Do You Have a Handicapped Grab Bar Installed?

It is not always easy for elderly and handicapped to get up from the toilet or out of the bathtub. Therefore, many businesses have a stall that is reserved for these people who need a little extra help. The same handicapped grab bar you find in shopping centers and doctor offices as well as other commercial buildings can also be installed in homes. As an added bonus, at home, you can also put them into more areas. Do you have them installed to help those in your family who need it the most?

Handicapped Grab Bar Options

You can put a grab bar around any area of your home that may be difficult for a handicapped or elderly person. They are mostly designed for use in the bathroom. They can be placed around the toilet and inside of showers or tubs. They can be placed outside of the shower to give the person something to hang onto if they begin to lose their balance while drying off or getting dressed.
However, because they are designed for bathrooms, this does not mean that you cannot use them in other areas of your home or office. In fact, although not common, they can be used in a living room or dining room, kitchens and all other areas where getting up and down may be an issue for someone who has a harder time getting around.
There are bars that are available in all different sizes and for all different uses. They are available to install in any bathroom or other areas. You can put them all down the side of a wall if you need to. The options are endless and it is all to give the handicapped and elderly a safe home to live in.

Handicapped Grab Bar Installation

Most grab bars are easy to install. They simply bolt to the walls around the toilet. They hook to the walls of a shower. Some are able to hook to the floor and come up to give support on both sides or when the toilet does not sit near a wall. The bar itself is made of antimicrobial or antibacterial steel. This means that it will resist mold, mildew, and other things that could make a person sick when they touch it. It completely protects against all possible instances where microorganisms may spread.

These Bars Make Independence Easier

Most elderly and handicapped people have to worry about falling down in all areas of their home. However, a bathroom is where they are most likely to have issues. With handicapped grab bars, they are able to worry less about potential falls. They are able to go to the bathroom without having help for just a little while longer. They can have confidence that they can live at home comfortably for a little longer and not have to worry about the potential of pulling down their pants in front of friends and family. They may still need your help when doing some things, but in that one area of the house, they can have privacy and you can feel confident that they are safe.
